The challenge was the same for each student: Activate space, create movement and balance using only cut paper. The colored piece of paper was to be cut and all of it used on the black background. The yellow piece was to be cut using only straight cuts and the blue piece was to be cut using curved cuts. Students then assembled their pieces in what they deemed the most aesthetically pleasing manner.
See our 8th grade art page for some finished images.
The 2-D students chose their favorite landscape, while 8th grade students chose a national park landscape to paint in honor of the 100th anniversary of the national park. This is project to wrap up our unit on color.
Teaching art is my passion and my students are the reason I love what I do! What a privilege to work with our young artists and witness their excitement and growth throughout the year! I'm looking forward to starting this year because of the enthusiasm expressed by students and parents alike at our open house!
Welcome Hillyard Artists!
I am excited for this school year! I look forward to working with and getting to know my art students. As we begin our journey together this year we look for your best efforts each day. Only through practice do we gain skill and grow!
